WinPatrol
Another must-have tool i like is WinPatrol, another tool from BillP Studios.

WinPatrolThis tool is been featured in PC World more than once, not many applications achieve that as you might know if you are a PC World reader. The main function of WinPatrol, a multi purpose support utility helps you by replacing multiple system utilities with its enhanced functionality. WinPatrol PLUS provides easy to understand definitions of over 16,000 programs which is, a PLUS since it keeps you informed of whats running on your system at any given time.

You will love Scotty (WinPatrol's mascot) because it helps you to keep your system tray free of clutter and warns you when a program insists on loading at system boot-up. The new version, 2007,  has a special tab called Delayed Start, a smart feature that lets you delay launch of nonessential programs for up to sixty minutes after the system boots, so your Windows loads faster. Also new is a right-click function that opens the startup program's folder in Windows Explorer.

BillP Studios offers two versions of WinPatrol, the regular version, which is FREE and the Plus version which costs around $30.00 dollars. I had the free version working for a couple of years until i decided it was time for me to start supporing the cause, specially i really think WinPatrol is worth the inversion. Although you can find several smilar tools for free, and the free version of WinPatrol, you must be aware that we should be thankful with people who actually takes the time to design this type of applications to make our life a whole lot easier. So, get the free version and see what all you can get then, go ahead and support the developers by purchasing the Plus version.

Please note, the free version of WinPatrol is actually free, there is no catch, no annoying pop-up messages or anything, the main difference between their versions is the tools you can use. If you want to go ahead and see a chart to compare WinPatrol's versions check the following link:
